There appear to have been two of this name who might have entered the maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1773 from 114 Wood Street.

Benjamin Gurden born in 1706.
Christening record for St Helen Bishopsgate register dated 19th September 1706; parents John and Hannah.
Duty paid as a goldsmith of London for Apprentice Indentures of Thomas Hebblewhite in 1753 and John Hankins in 1757
There is a burial record at St Alban Wood Street dated 3rd April 1777 for a Benjamin Gurden aged 70 years who died of palsy.

Extracts of Duties paid shows an entry in 1723 for Edward Cook, goldsmith (Grimwade p.470?) regarding the Apprentice Indentures of Benjamin Gurden son of John Gurden, carpenter.

Benjamin Gurden born 1736.

Indentures were signed in 1750 for Benjamin son of Benjamin Gurden, goldsmith to be his apprentice.

The Will of Benjamin Gurden, jeweller late of Noble Street, was proved for probate on 17th April 1777 (National Archives reference PROB 11/1030/179) and the Will of Benjamin Gurden, goldsmith and now gentleman late of St Mary, Islington, proved for probate on 26th November 1805 (reference PROB 11/1433/215).

5 April 1753 Thomas son of Nathaniel Heblethwhite of the parish of Saint Pancrass in the County of MIddlesex pipemaker apprenticed to Benjamin Gurden London goldsmith.

10 April 1753, one day before the recorded date of Benjamin Gurden having paid duty for Thomas Heblethwhite, Thomas Heblethwhite turned over to John Rainsford clockmaker of London.

2 June 1755 Thomas Heblethwhite turned over to Thomas Hornesby salter of London.

27 February 1756 Thomas Heblethwhite turned over to Roger Dale glover of London.

The proceeding is "as may be seen in the goldsmiths company's Book of Presentments of Apprentices Examined this fourteenth day of June 1760 by me Thomas Bankes, clerk."

1 July 1760 Benjamin Gurden of the Parish of Saint Olave Silver Street London Batchelor and Jeweller aged 23 years bound in marriage to Mary Lomas of the Parish of Saint Michael Wood Street London Spinster aged 22 years.
