There's also an Edward Purdie whose birth is recorded at St James, Pentonville as 25 Mar 1797.
He is listed in the 1841, '51 and '61 census's for Islington as a jeweller, silversmith and silversmith ass't (unemployed) respectively.
Edward Purdie, Islington is listed on the third quarter 1867 death register.

The Edward Purdie marks listed in Grimwade's Goldworkers List were entered in 1798 and 1799. The second Edward Purdie was born circa 1797.

Although this is probably in the biographical information about this gentleman, here's someone that might fit: Edwd Purdie enamaller and engraver 16 St John's sq from Holden's Triennial Directory, 1805, 1806, 1807 - Vols 1 and 2 published 1806.
