Goldworkers List (Section VII).
Born around 1806.
Married Grace Wilkins at Christ Church and St Leonard, Foster Lane on 24th December 1829. Both parties of that parish.
1841 UK Census for Goodbridge Street, Clerkenwell as a jeweller living his wife Grace along with 3 of their 7 children, of which 4 survived.
1851 UK Census for 1 Bishop's Court, Clerkenwell shows Grace Dear as a jeweller's wife along with 5 children, the youngest aged 9 years. Edmund Dear is not resident.
No record of Edmund Dear's death has been traced between 1851-61.
1861 UK Census for an unreadable address in the Goswell Street area of Clerkenwell shows Grace Dear as a widow living with 3 of her sons. This should of course mean her husband had died. A coincidence in the 1861 UK Census record at another address in Clerkenwell is the appearance of a jeweller by the name of Edmund Dear aged 54 years living with a different wife and family.
