James Dicks married Hannah Holmes at St Dunstan in the West in 1814; both were from that parish.
The christening of Thomas, son of James and Hannah Dicks of Greenhill Rents, was recorded at St Dunstan in the West in 1815.
The christening records of three more of their children at the same church 1816-20 show the same address.
He had entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1820 as a spoon maker from Bishop’s Court, Aylesbury Street and another in partnership with Thomas Dicks in 1821 from 36 Greenhill Rents.
The christenings of two more children recorded at the same church 1825-26 show their parents as James and Anna (possibly a misunderstanding of the name Hannah) Dicks of Bell Yard.
All of the christening records show their father as a silversmith.
His last mark was entered alone from Greenhill Rents in January 1832. Thomas Dicks had died in 1831.
