CHICAGO
The death of Charles H. Greenwood, who was associated with the hotel department of Albert Pick & Co., came as a shock to his friends in the trade. Mr. Greenwood suffered from pneumonia for only a few days. His remains were taken to Akron, O., his home town, for burial. Mr. Greenwood was with Albert Pick & Co. for some time, and prior to that time was associated with Brinsmaid & Co., of Des Moines, Ia. Before that he was in charge of the hotel department of the Chicago office of the R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co. for about four years.

DEATH OF M. VERMAAS
Well Known Salesman of the Silver and Jobbing Trade Passes Away in Chicago
Cuicaco, Ill., Nov. 5.—The funeral of Pieter M. Vermaas, who died Tuesday at the Austin Hospital after a long illness, was conducted at the home of his brother yesterday by Hesperia Lodge No. 411, A. F. & A. M., and burial was at Forest Home.
Mr. Vermaas would have been 63 years old on the 25th of this month. Until a few years ago he was quite active in the trade and was well known throughout. For a number of years he was associated with the silver trade, representing during these years the International Silver Co. and also R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co.
Several years ago he went with F. L. Bosworth Co., wholesalers, Minneapolis. He continued with this company and became manager upon the death of Mr. Bosworth. About seven years ago this business was liquidated and Mr. Vermaas retired from active business.
Deceased is survived by a son, M. C. Vermaas, San Diego, Cal.; a sister, Mrs. Marie C. Van Delinder, 4726 Congress St., with whom he made his home, and a brother, Albert Vermaas.

Fire in the five-story building at 1204 Chestnut St., caused some damage to the Philadelphia branch of R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co., silver manufacturers. mostly by water. The Wallace branch is on the second floor and the blaze, a small but smoky one, was on the third floor which was vacant. Defective wiring was the cause.

Special displays for dealers both in San Francisco and Oakland were given in February by the W. B. Glidden Co., featuring the “Princess Anne” pattern both flatware and hollowware, manufactured by R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co. The San Francisco display was in the W. B. Glidden Co.’s warerooms, 140 Geary St., and opened on Feb. 5. The display for Trans-Bay dealers was at Hotel Oakland, Oakland, and opened on Feb. 12.
