Manufacturer of Jewellery. One of the great names in the world of jewellery. Founded in 1835 by Leopoldo Janesich at Capo di Piazza, Trieste, the fame of this house spread throughout Europe. Leopoldo died in 1880, leaving the business in the hands of his son, Giovanni. In 1896 a Paris branch was opened on the Rue de Lafayette, it was managed by Leopoldo's grandson, Alberto, and another son, Giuseppe worked on the designs. In 1913, two new shops were opened, one on the Rue de la Paix, nicely situated between Tiffany and Cartier, and the other in Monte Carlo. The house supplied Tiffany with gems and pearls and jewell encrusted watchcases to Baume et Mercier, and further shops were opened in Deauville and Vichy.

The year 1925 saw the firm appointed as royal jewellers to the House of Savoy, and 1927 saw the passing away of Giovanni Janesich, and the firm now passes to Giuseppe and his son, Pietro (Momo). In 1933 they were appointed jewellers to House of Aosta and received the patronage of Mussolini. Alberto died in 1933 and Giuseppe in 1937. In the 1930's the French shops were closed down, as was their London office, the post-war period saw a further decline and Momo passed away in 1971.

The firm still continues, and still in Trieste, and now in the hands of Francesco Janesich, the sixth member member of the family to head the business.
