LESTOURGEON, Aaron (Grimwade p.581, 757)

Post by MCB »

He was christened at St Bride’s, Fleet Street in 1742 the son of William (Grimwade p.581, 757) and Mary Lestourgeon of Salisbury Court.
Christening records for six children of Aaron and Caroline Lestourgeon at St Andrew, Holborn show their address as High Holborn from 1774-1786 and Bartlett’s Buildings from 1789.
He continued to be assessed to Land Tax on the latter property until 1795.
Aaron Lestourgen was listed in the 1802 Poll Book at an address in Margate in respect of property in Shoreditch.

Poll of City & Liberty of Westminster taken at Covent Garden 22 November to 8 December 1749
gives a
Aaron LE STURGEON [sic], Silversmith, St Martin Le Grand,
This probably refers to a relative as age seems too young for the Grimwade Aaron Lestourgeon.

The silversmith Aaron Lestourgeon entitled to vote in 1749 was this Aaron's grandfather. The notes on William Lestourgeon (Grimwade p.581, 757) refer.
Grimwade mentions no mark for him at Goldsmiths Hall.
He died in 1750.

It's an unusual name so it would not be surprising if Isaac Lesturgeon, Silver Turner of Saint Giles in the Fields , Middlesex, whose will was proved at PCC on 15 December 1758 ( NRA/ PROB 11/842/345) was not related .
