Who is the maker?

Post by Zolotnik »

Hi all -
found a complete tea serving set: tea caddy spoon, tea strainer, sugar tongs and lemon fork - all in the same pattern and with identic monogramms. St. Petersburg maker JT(1908 -17). Can not find him in my sources.
Any help welcome!

Only a shot in the dark and better late than ever. By a coincident I stumbled into a name: A Finn, Johannes Tölkeri, born in Artjärvi 2.9.1841. He came to StP in 1857 and became journeyman 1861. Around 1870 he was master and had his working period around 1870-90. (The exact years are unclear). The kokoshnikmark in the picture was valid 1899-1908 because the face looks to the left. 1908-1926 the kokoshnik looks right. My sources tell me that J. Tolkeri marked IT or J.T.. I see no reason why he couldn't have marked JT without dots. BUT! All is my assumption only....

The assayer ЯП is Jakov Lyapunov in StP !899-1904
