RUELL, James (Grimwade p.648)

Post by MCB »

The christening of Mary Ann, the daughter of James and Gwen Ruell of Baldwin’s Gardens, registered at St Andrew, Holborn in 1792 may be relevant.
In 1801 he notified Goldsmiths’ Hall he had moved to Little Wild Street and Land Tax assessments continued to be made on him there until 1821.
The new tenant of the property in 1822 was Thomas Fairburn (Grimwade p.505).

James Ruell's probate record reveals that there was a memorandum written the year of his death containing instructions for the disposal of his estate. He could not sign it because of rheumatic gout in his hands. It was this document that was eventually proven in 1829 as well as depositions written in 1829 that were from among others his sister Mary Fairburn a silversmith and the widow of the silversmith Thomas Fairburn (Grimwade p.505). Mary was granted administration.
