He was born around 1765.
He married Frances Coutts at St Anne, Soho in 1792 and one of their children was christened there in 1806 but the record gives no further information.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1793 as a goldworker from 12 St Martin’s Street, Leicester Fields and in 1796 from 12 Frith Street, Soho.
Indentures were signed in 1815 for William son of John Northam, jeweller of Greek street, Soho to be apprenticed to William Winckworth, coal merchant of Fountain Court, Strand.
The record of his wife Frances’ burial in 1838 aged 66 years is at Holy Trinity, Brompton. Her last address was Brompton Square.
The 1841 UK census recorded him still living there with three unmarried daughters. His age is shown as 75 years and he was of independent means.
His burial in 1849 aged 84 years is also recorded at Holy Trinity, Brompton; his last address was still Brompton Square.
