Help needed please with identifying marks etc
Re: Help needed please with identifying marks etc
How about reading the rules. Show a picture of the whole item and not only the marks and use suggested programs e.g. http://tinypic.com/?t=postupload" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hi -
I really like storys which start with something like: "....this was found in my grandmother´s loft..." and end with a simple fake!

Hi ratman -
as stated before, this "object" is a fake. If you read the forum you will find some threads on P. Ovtschinnikov - after Fabergé the best in Imperial Russia, known for his outstanding different enamels and quality. If you compare your enamel Clausonné box with authentic pieces you will see at once the minor design quality of the twisted wires (many open ends = red arrows) and the sloppy enamel. Internet is full of this boxes. I think you have to speak with your grandmother...

The mark of P. Ovtschinnikov has nothing to do with the authentic mark.

I hope my informations are interesting enough...

Re: Help needed please with identifying marks etc
Zolonik, many thanks for the information. I had no idea who this was made by or anything about it at all.. My Grandmother died in 1988. So i have no idea where or when she got this item, I can remember as a young child seeing this and other enamel things on her dressing table. this was over 50 years ago.. So i know that it as least that old.
Once again thanks for the info...

Hi ratman (nomen est omen) -
first the box was found in grandmother´s loft (!), later (50 years ago) it sits on the dressing table together with other enamel.
Now it is listed at eBay´s......with an interesting description...
Now you might understand why I like storys which start with ".. this was found in my grandmother´s loft...". Always the same lies and nonsense.

This forum should not be a playground for ratmen!
