Post by MCB »

Goldworkers List (Section VII).

He was born around 1800 in St Bartholomew the Great parish.
He married Ann Letts at St Sepulchre, Holborn on 2nd October 1825.
The christening record for 1 of their children in 1826 records William Swanwick Powell at 9 Cloth Lane, another in 1828 at 5 Moon Street and 3 from 1830-9 at Rahere Street. All christenings were at St Bartholomew the Great and show his occupation as a motto ring engraver, enameller and, on one occasion in 1830, as a goldsmith.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1837 as a ring maker at 3 Rahere Street.
1841 UK Census for Rahere Street records him as an artist.
1851, 1861 & 1871 UK Censuses for the same address record him as an engraver and enameller.
England & Wales Deaths Index for Poplar registry shows he died in 1875 aged about 75 years.
