This brush looks really old and it depicts what looks like a colonial scene. The marks are hard to see but there are 3 of them in a row. Next to these are the letters HH. This could be Henry Holland but I am not sure. Also if anyone knows how old this is that would be helpful.

Re: Sterling Brush
Your marks are upside-down and a bit fuzzy on my monitor, but appear to indicate Dutch .833 silver, date mark for 1926, maker "HH" is probably Hooijkaas (now Royal Zilverstad): http://www.925-1000.com/Fnetherlands_Date_Code.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Agree - Dutch for sure. Pattern & scene fairly typical for period from 1900 onwards (still in use today). Another similar & popular pattern depicts a 'Bawdy House' with buxom servers and a merry band of 'men at arms' all holding flagons of free flowing ale - perhaps they were relaxing after the 'conquest' which is depicted on the brush? ;-)
Re: Sterling Brush
A little loose, but the inspiration for the scene is perhaps drawn from 'The Night Watch' by Rembrandt:

Hi All,
Yes, I agree with Dog nose, the Night Watch or Fancy Dress Party, to show-off in full ornate. The Importance of being seen an often repeated theme on cigarette cases, ash trays, pill boxes and even hair brushes so it seems.

Silver pill box often called snuff box.

Oel
