I have some pieces with this W and 750 mark.
Could it be Weimar about from 1870 ?

Hello, W is a yet unidentified Berlin maker. I suspect an early Wilm mark, but have been unable to verify this. Schade was a Berlin jeweller, active at Roßstrasse 27. Best wishes, Bahner

This are some interesting informations for me.
1. it is a makersmark and not a townmark
2. it is a berlin maker
3. the maker is unknown even though the mark is not rare

I thank You Bahner

it could be Hermann Julius Wilm

schmiede, Gründer war Gottfried Ludwig Wilm (1746-1829)
Namensgeber sein Neffe Hermann Julius Wilm <<

C. v. d. Werth, Oranienstr. 66 Berlin, Verkaufsgesch. (1903)

Hello

As already »Bahner« has mentioned - and by my experience and knowledge -, maker's marks in this topic 18377 could be (with need of more confirmation by other findings) attributed to H.J. Wilms workshop.

In last example shown mark »V.D WE...« looks like to be (1903 = retailer!) mark of C. van der Werth, Jewellery Shop, Oranienstr. 66, Berlin.

Kind regards silverport

H. J. Wilm has had a Gothic W - M for sure isn't Wilm!

Post by silverport »

Hello Theoderich

I've well seen the difference! My remark is also for that reason divided:

18377 topic's Gothic W is a maker's mark of H. J. Wilm - I don't own any example with this mark; but I've seen a few when I was in Germany tens of years ago. It wasn't allowed to take photos - and as I've heard later, the items were sold.

My other part of remark's meaning is, that this »750«-»M« item was marked and sold in Berlin by C. v. d. Werth in function as a retailer. Here shown mark had let open what follows the letters WE to form a name.

Success in all your further more research activity's!

Kind regards silverport
