Thanks for looking... this is a small (1 3/4") round pill box with a gold gilt wash on the inside... any help with identifying it is welcome! I don't know if it's European or American... Thank you!!!

Many thanks for such a fast and informative reply! I have never heard of the term Hanau, so I learned something new today! Do sterling collectors pass them up because they are not marked as sterling?

Hi,

Hanau items with their pseudo marks have been the source of confusion for many years, especially with me. Tom's article has done much to straighten things out, lifting a veil of mist on this most interesting and often sidestepped subject, it's all a lot clearer now.
