i bought this funny claret jug some weeks ago in new york - i know my question is a little strange - i hope the admin wont move this question - but the fact that there are so many silver specialists lets me hope to find out .. what fable or tale can this be- its a jug made by william leuchars - london 1885 - glass probably by W. Fritsche -working for Thomas Webb - the pattern on the glass is out of the Pattern book for glass engravers by Joseph Keller - but this claret jug is so unusual that i thought i must be a story which is told here - but which - if there is anybody who could help - it would be great ! many thx and greetings from austria , tom

What an unusual claret jug.
I don't know of any English fable or myth with a frog and dragon.
They are sometimes connected in Chinese culture. There are primitive earthquake detectors with dragons dropping balls into frogs' mouths.

Hi Tom,

Just curious, is the glass fixed to be base or are the birds a stand for the jug? If it is fixed, how has this been achived?

I don't know what fable this may represent, but when I scrolled down the picture of the frog jumping out at me, scared the bejezus out of me! By the way, great item.
