Handwrought Ladle Signed PENNEY????

Post by bigal1963 »

Hi there
This is my first posting but just wanted to say what a great site. Anyways I came across this ladle and several other pieces Marked "PENNEY HAND WROUGHT STERLING" but have not been able to locate any info on the maker. Also does anyone no what this was used for or what to call it it has an unique drain plug in the center of the bowl operated by a bar that runs down the handle.
Thank much
Alan

That is a sauce ladle, juices and fats are dipped from the well of a carving board and exit through the hole, the hole is closed before the floating fat can escape.

I have no listing in any reference for PENNEY
