Please help me about this Swedish Silversmith HGT

Post by rem801116 »

Hello,

I have a milk pot and the silver hallmark shows it was from Sweden and the year mark is Z3, I think it was made on the year of 1830. The silversimith is HGT. I didn't find any information on this silversmith. Please help me to identify.

An other question is that the HGT was marked with the silver control mark on the pot neck and it was also marked on the bottom of pot. Why it was marked twice on the same pot?
Thank you very much.

Your milk pot is made by Hans Göran Tillström (HGT). He was born 30.4.1803 in Växjö in Sweden and became master 1829 in Stockholm where he worked to 1834. He moved to Växjö 1834 and worked with his father in his workshop and took over the workshop 1844. Moreover, he moved to Karlshamn in 1844 and lived there to 1849. He owned the estate Kråkenäs manor and died there in 17.4.1890

Most likely owner's initials or possibly an institution, a company's logo.
