Hello Louis
Here are some thoughts:
-This appears to be a coffee spoon (you don’t give length) from Bordeaux, mid- late eighteenth C. They are called “cuiller à café boule” and are characteristic of Bordeaux. It would be helpful if you could show the attachment of the stem to the bowl on the reverse side to rule out another period and place altogether.
-I think I see the charge mark of a script B in rope, used 1780-1789 (shown upside down), and just above it the shell discharge mark for the same time period.
-I don’t know who the maker JC or JG is.
-The crowned B would be that of the maison commune.
-Have no idea what the erased mark after the crowned B might be.

Not having references for Bordeaux makers, these thoughts could all be shown to be dead wrong.

Thanks a bunch Jay, will try to post more pictures over the week end.
The maker's initials are JC I think.
What puzzles me is the crowned B of maison commune as you say which is not in my books...
And the charge Mark is not 100% matching the 80-89 mark of Bordeaux (maybe because it is erased).
But all in all I believe your idea of being a Bordeaux spoon (larger than a coffee, maybe dessert spoon?), length is 14.5 cms
I did not know of the existence of Cuiller à café boule.

I should have specified that what I believe are the charge nad discharge marks for Bordeaux 1780-1789 are for small objects. See Tardy, 20th edition, p.145, 4th row.
