Looking for Help on This Trefid Spoon

Post by WesternPA »

Hi,

This came with a bunch of other early English silver, and I suspect it is a provincial English piece (e.g., West Country), but could be wrong. Not quite sure of the maker's mark, struck four times, but it might be LS or IS, or possibly SI. Circa 1700. Am I on the right track? Thanks!

Regards,
WesternPA

Mark is somewhat similar to some shown for John Smith of Taunton - but really no idea.

Afraid I can't help much. I agree it could be John Smith of Taunton but am not sure the mark is an exact match. However, it is probably what I would settle for unless and until a better match emerges somewhere.
