is this Sheffield bowl solid sterling?

this bowl is marked with the lion passant and crown. I am not sure what the one on the right is?? also is the Whitney jewelry co. a legitimate one? just trying to know what it all means?

sorry it took me a little bit to get the forum posting dialed in. But I think I got it now. can I delete the first couple of postings I did but keep my latest.?

Hi,
It`s American, made by E. & J. BASS - New York, NY (1890 - 1930).
Take a look here for exactly the same set of marks:

Whitney jewelry co. was the retailer.
``Sheffield`` denotes the method of manufacture and marks vaguely resemble Brittish marks for Sheffield, but they are NOT Brittish silver marks.

Yes, that is correct - your piece would be silverplate, not sterling silver. Bass were well known silverplate makers. In the US, if a piece was "Sterling" it was usually marked as such (to provide comfort to the purchaser etc). Also, the marks are wrong for British sterling silver - for one, the "lion passant" isn't in a cartouche.
