Hi,
I just joined this forum in hopes someone might recognize these marks. The spoon was in a larger auction lot and it was identified as coin silver. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
1846 Spoon - Can you help identify marks?
Re: 1846 Spoon - Can you help identify marks?
Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
There are two marks. Number ``13`` indicates 13 Loth silver standard (.830). It was used in e.g. Germany and Austria - Hungary Empire at the time.
``CW`` is maker`s mark. Without town mark it`s almost impossible to identify where the spoon was made.
Regards

A little supplement to AG2012's reply
. 13 lot silver is 812,5 silver content.
Best regards!

I stand corrected:
10 Loth = 10/16 = 625/1000
12 Loth = 12/16 = 750/1000
13 Loth = 13/16 = 812,5/1000
10 Loth = 10/16 = 625/1000
12 Loth = 12/16 = 750/1000
13 Loth = 13/16 = 812,5/1000
