Any idea of origin of these spoons?

Post by Jojo2000 »

Hi there,
Have had these spoons for a long time now and always wondered where they originated from. They are not very exciting really but I like to learn a little and enjoy doing the research but have no luck with tracing these marks - not that they are very clear but I believe they are marked 833 alongside a symbol of some sort .
As always any information gratefully received.
Thank you,
Jo.

Of all the 833 candidates, I am most interested in Portugal and it's relationship to Brazil ::: In the late 19th and early 20th century, an almost unbelievable amount of mineral diversity was discovered in Brazil, so perhaps these spoons are meant to symbolize the mineral wealth of Brazil (rose quartz, amethyst, etc) ::: I can't identify the other hallmark, but it could have something to do with Brazil and/or Portugal :::

Best guess I could come up with because they just kind of "speak to me" as South American pieces and not Scandinavian pieces :::
