The bottom of the tray is chased in a simple flower style pattern - circle in the middle and 6 petals. The petals are stamped with a simple starburst pattern.
Underneath the tray there is a hallmark that I cannot find a reference to anywhere! The picture reminds me of an old Armenian crown. It has a full pentagon shape in the front with a cross in the center. Below that is what I thought were the letters C L but I now think they are Eastern Armenian for their letter S or Sa. In the photo link there is also reference to the Arabic alphabet with characters that also look very similar.
If anyone has any idea what this tray is, where it is from, what metal it is, and possibly what the hallmark is -- please reply.
