Twist Spoon Spain Odd Marks

Post by Traintime »

Crest for seaside resort town Torremolinos in Costa del Sol. Marks very tiny...hexagonal for a possible maker, but rectangular mark rather than star mark (for guarantee). Could it be from another country, or would this be a recent plater's style marking rather than Spanish silverwork. (Handle's metal stock has visible triple-layer lines running down full length of one side.) So hard to read, I don't expect an actual ID of maker..but a hint to origin may help.

Hi,
Even enlarged marks are too small. But the rectangular mark should be Spanish mark for .750 minimum fineness used after 1934.
Small six-point star with trail.

Spanish maker`s marks are in hexagon.Take a look here:

Mucho Gracias for answering that and adding another useful mark to the site. The fineness mark, due to reflective light, was much more visible when viewed upside-down at an oblique angle and was a match to your entry. At least I now know which way to orient the maker's mark...still blurry but appears to divide into four quadrants. At the lower two, I think it may be "M" on the left, and (less sure) "E" to the right. The letters would be a stylistic version of block. Upper left zone is a useless blob, while upper right is an object (possibly a left facing animal). [I'm gonna need a better loupe to photo this one.]
