.70 silver? antique candle sticks mark unknown

Post by okeydokey »

Image Image hi: I have been trying to decipher the maker on these candle sticks for some time but have been unable to find anything. Looks like a feather with small s at bottom and number 70 O.K. U in side background cross hatched cartouche. any suggestions would be helpful? I have found no reference to “70” silver. Unknown if American or European? thanks, okeydokey

Hello and congrats on this beautiful pair. Its from Breslau, Schlesien (Silesia), now Wroclaw, Poland. The city mark (first on the left, badly struck) ist that of the head of John the Baptist, below it the year. The letter 'U' was used between 1861 and 1876, the (very low silver standard) of 700/1000 parts silver was used in Silesia between 1858 and 1887. Sorry, but I cannot identify the maker. Best wishes, Bahner.
