Indenture of the sale of Land, William Bennett 1821

An indenture dated "the fourth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and twenty one."

An indenture for the sale of the land "Between William Bennett of Bartholemew Close in the city of London, silversmith on the one part and John Thomas Pocock of Saint Brides Wharf White Friars in the same city, boat merchant on the other part."

The sale "for and in consideration for the sum of five shillings of lawful British money to him paid by the said John Thomas Pocock at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents."

The land "formeley called Water Pit Field and now of late called Rounds Field" is then described in detail using the boundaries of the land and the owners of said surroundings.

Signed and sealed by the silversmith William Bennett.

Hi Rhodri,

Another great find! Thanks for sharing it with us.

It's an important piece of the jig-saw in detailing the life of William Bennett.

See: BENNETT, William (Grimwade p.438)
