EMANUEL, Morris (Grimwade p.503)

Post by silverly »

9 February 1832 Morris Emanuel granted freedom by redemption in the Company of Makers of Playing Cards. Silversmith and Jeweller is circled under new business. HIs petition for freedom stated that he was of the Jewish Nation and the son of Joel Emanuel a native of Germany who came to England about fifty years since and married an English woman where the petitioner was born and has ever since resided. A note along the left hand margin of the first page of the petition that was signed by Morris Emanuel stated that he was not engaged in any branch of the manufacture of watches and that he did not intend to put his name on any watches manufactured by other persons.
