There is a short biography of Richard Rawlings on pages 203 / 204 of Leslie Southwick's " London Silver Hilted Swords "
The following information is from that excellent book

Apprenticed to Joseph Wells, hilt maker of St James , Clerkenwell

As so often happens, one I missed. I do find the apprentice indenture duty payment record, but not the indenture contract.
