GOTTMAN, Daniel (Grimwade p.282)

Post by MCB »

Banns were read in 1770 for the bachelor Daniel Gottman to marry the spinster Catherine Pennell at St Mary Magdalene, Old Fish Street; they were both from that parish. No record of the actual wedding has been traced.
He entered a mark in 1771 at Goldsmiths’ Hall as a small worker from Milman Street, Bedford Row.
He paid Duty in 1772 as an engraver of St Dunstan’s for the apprentice indentures of George Clark.
Six children of Daniel and Mary (not Catherine) Gottman of Fleet Street were christened at St Dunstan in the West between 1772 and 1786.
Another of their children was christened in 1788 at St George in the East; Daniel was registered as an engraver from Ratcliff Highway.
No later information has been found for him.
