FORISTER, William (Grimwade p.285)

Post by MCB »

William Forrester was assessed to Land Tax on property in Charterhouse Lane from 1780-1799; the property was then demolished.
Grimwade refers to William Forister entering a mark at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1789 as a small worker from this address.
St Sepulchre, Holborn was situated close to the property. There was a marriage of a William Forrester of St Sepulchre parish to Mary Ann Willmotts at St George, Bloomsbury in 1790 which is probably relevant as is the christening of their child Henry at St Botolph, Aldersgate in 1791.
No information after 1799 can be connected to him. It is doubtful there is a link between him and the William Forrester noted by Grimwade on pages 327 and 384 as his first marks begin in 1825.
