FERRON, ABRAHAM (Grimwade p.288)

Abraham, the son of Louis Ferron watch maker of St Ann, (Soho) Westminster was apprenticed in 1725 to Stephen Gugeon (Goujon on Grimwade p.318) of the Clockmakers Company and made free in 1737.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths' Hall in 1734 as a case maker from Great St Andrew Street, St Giles in the Fields.
Indentures were signed in 1737 by Hamilton Beale of Kent to be the apprentice of Abraham Ferron of the Clockmakers Company. Beale was turned over to William Gallant in 1741.
The 1749 London Poll Book listed Abraham Ferron as a clockmaker at Church Street.
His son Michael signed indentures to be his apprentice in 1753.
Trade directory entries from 1752-63 listed him as a merchant at Church Street, Soho.
His son Michael (Grimwade p.313) was not made free until 1769 and in the same year entered his own mark as a case maker from Church Street which could suggest, having previously worked for his father, he had perhaps then taken over the business.
