EASTWICK, William Henry (Grimwade p.285, 499)

Post by MCB »

He was christened in 1780 at St Botolph, Aldersgate, the son of Adrian (Grimwade p.499) and Henrietta Eastwick (Grimwade p.499).
His mother succeeded to the business at 102 Aldersgate Street in 1782 on the death of her husband. William Henry was apprenticed to his mother in 1794 and free in the Goldsmiths Company in 1801. He joined his mother in entering a mark in partnership from the same address in 1802. Henrietta died in late September or early October 1804 having been assessed to Land Tax on property in Fann Street, Aldersgate since 1802. He entered his mark alone over a year later on 19th October 1805 again as a small worker at 102 Aldersgate. His mother’s name appeared on the 1805 Land Tax assessment for the property in Fann Street and he was assessed on the property from 1806-9. A new tenant was assessed there in 1810.
Christenings of children of William Henry and Amelia Eastwick were recorded at St Botolph, Aldersgate in 1806 and 1808. No marriage record has been found.
At some point they lived in Birmingham where their son William was born in 1812.
They are next recorded on the 1841 UK Census at Bitton, Gloucestershire where he was employed as an engineer. They were still there for the 1851 UK Census living in the Avon and Gloucester Railway offices where he was employed as an agent.
The death of William Henry Eastwick was registered in Keynsham, Bristol in 1854.
