DEVITT, Robert (Grimwade p.316)

Post by MCB »

He is listed on page 116 of Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World as being apprenticed in 1764 and there is a record of Edward Bradshaw (Grimwade p.447) of the Clockmakers Company paying Duty in that year for Devitt’s indentures. No record of his freedom has been found.
He entered a mark in 1772 at Goldsmiths’ Hall as a case maker from 7 Tottenham Court Road.
The Will of Robert Devitt, watch case maker of that address, was granted probate on 7th October 1776 (National Archives reference PROB11/1024/44).
