He was christened the son of John and Susannah Buckston (sic) in 1711 at St James, Clerkenwell.
His indentures record him as the son of John Buxton, a pen cutter late of Clerkenwell, apprenticed to Thomas Potts (Grimwade p.322) of the Clockmakers Company in 1726. He was made free in 1733.
He entered a mark in 1734 at Goldsmiths’ Hall from Bridewell Walk, Clerkenwell probably as a case maker.
He married Ann Simmonds at St Benet, Paul’s Wharf in 1736; he was from Clerkenwell and she was from Lothbury.
Their son George was christened at All Hallows on the Wall in 1737.
Gabriel the son of Gabriel Lyon, late of All Hallows the Great parish, became his apprentice in 1737.
He is listed on page 48 of Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World as Wilson Buxton, free in the Clockmakers Company from 1733-37.
He was assessed to Land Tax on unidentified property in All Hallows precinct from 1736-40.
Six of his children were christened at St James, Clerkenwell from 1746-55.Two burials of these children at St James in 1750 and 1752 record their address as Clerkenwell Close.
No later information has been found for him.
