THURKLE, Abraham (Grimwade p.682, 769)

Post by MCB »

He was christened in 1804 at St Bride’s, Fleet Street the son of George Moses and Mary Thurkle of 15 New Street Square.
He married Elizabeth Sarah Bell at St Bride’s in 1828; both were from that parish.
Christening records at St Bride’s in 1829 and 1831 for two of their children show their father continuing as a sword cutler at New Street Square from where he had entered a mark at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1827.
Christening records at Walton on Thames church, Surrey in 1833 and 1835 for two more of their children show their father had become a lock keeper in Sunbury on Thames. He is recorded there on Census records 1841-61.
Abraham Thurkle died at Sunbury Lock House in 1868.
