He was christened at St Giles, Cripplegate in 1742, the son of John, a silversmith and his wife Elizabeth.
He signed a bond in 1771 as a silversmith from St Olave parish, Wood Street to marry Frances Dimsdale.
George, the son of William Munro a Customs House Officer of London, signed indentures in 1785 to be his apprentice at Pillikin (Pelican) Court, Little Britain.
John, the son of Francis Burrows a silversmith of Radcliffe Highway, signed indentures in 1791 to be his apprentice.
He was assessed to Land Tax on property in Pelican Court, Little Britain from 1774-88, on property in Cross Street, Islington from 1790-1800 and at Chapel Street near Grub Street, Cripplegate from 1794-1806. The 1807 Land Tax assessment on the Chapel Street property was made on his executors.
The name is sufficiently unusual to suggest that the Will of William Sudell, late of St Mary, Newington, Surrey, which was proved for probate on 13th February 1807, may have relevance. Also his wife mentioned in the will was named Frances. (National Archives reference PROB 11/1456/136).

Notice Is hereby given, that the Partnership between William Sudell and Joseph Wyatt, of Angel-street, St. Marttn's-le-Grand, Working Silversmiths, is this Day dissolved by mutual Consent; All Persons having any Claims or Demands upon the said Trade are desired to send an Account thereof to the said William Sudell, at his House in Cross-street, Islington; and all Persons indebted to the said Estate are desired forthwith to pay their Debts to the said William Sudell, who is duly authorized to receive the same.
