Previously unrecorded his freedom was granted in 1715 in the Haberdashers Company.
Sarah, the daughter of Hugh and Anna Saunders, was christened at St James, Garlickhithe in 1717 and daughter Mary at St Mary, Aldermanbury in 1727.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths’ Hall from St Bride’s Lane in 1718 and Heal had noted him there in 1726.
He was assessed to Land Tax on unidentified property in St Mary, Aldermanbury precinct from 1725-33, a new tenant being assessed on the property in 1734.
The burial of a Hugh Saunders was recorded at All Hallows, Bread Street in 1753 without detail of age or last address.
