SADLER, Thomas (Grimwade p.650)

Post by MCB »

Indentures were signed in 1702 for Philip Robinson (Grimwade p.644) to be his apprentice.
Grimwade’s speculation that the Thomas Sadler who married Frances Roberts at Christ Church, Newgate in 1704 is one and the same is confirmed by a marriage bond in that year in which he is referred to as a goldsmith from St Vedast. Frances Roberts was the daughter of Hugh Roberts the goldsmith (Grimwade p.642).
Three children of Thomas and Frances Sadler of Fleet Street were christened at St Bride’s, Fleet Street between 1710 and 1713.
He was assessed to Land Tax on property in Fleet Street until 1722.
The burial of Thomas Sadler of Fleet Street was recorded at St Bride’s in 1722.
The tenant assessed to Land Tax on the property in 1723 was his previous apprentice Philip Robinson (Grimwade p.644) who entered a mark at Goldsmiths’ Hall from the address in that year.
