ROOD(E), James and Mary (Grimwade p.647)

Post by MCB »

A James Rood married a Mary Ellington in Westminster in 1710.
Edward Wood (Grimwade p.709) and James Stones (listed as Stone in Grimwade p.671) both signed indentures in 1715 to be his apprentices.
He was assessed to Land Tax at Black Swan Court, Angel Precinct until 1718, on property in St Austin’s near Gutter Lane in 1719 and on unidentified property in St John Zachary precinct from 1720-21. His widow Mary (Grimwade p.647) was assessed on the same property from 1722-26. A new tenant was assessed in 1727.
The burial of a James Rood registered at near by St Anne and St Agnes church in 1721 may be relevant although the record shows no detail of age at death or last address.
