RICH, Charles Hastings (Grimwade p.641)

Post by MCB »

He was christened the son of Joseph and Mary Rich at St Ann, Soho in 1795.
He married Rebecca Monk at St Dunstan and All Saints, Stepney in 1817; both were from that parish.
He also entered a mark at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1817 as a plate worker from 17 Finsbury Street, Finsbury and another maker’s mark in 1823 from St Ann’s Lane in partnership with Elizabeth Adams (Grimwade p.419).
Christening records for the children of Charles and Rebecca at various London churches show their address as Banner Square in 1822, Mile End Old Town and Epping Place, Whitechapel in 1826, Field Row, Whitechapel in 1830, Edmund Street, Whitechapel in 1832 and Church Street, Stepney in 1841. The records show their father as a silversmith or a jeweller.
The 1841 and 1851 UK Census records list him out of the silversmith trade, still living at Church Street, Stepney and employed as a Registrar of Births and Deaths.
