He was free in the Haberdashers' Company.
Matthew and John, sons of Matthew and Hannah Madden, were christened at All Hallows, Lombard Street in 1674 and 1678 respectively.
His son John, shown as Jonathan on page 588 of Grimwade’s book, signed to be his apprentice in 1693.
Grimwade’s reference to the death in 1730 of a goldsmith named Madden may relate to John Madden.
