KAY, Charles (Grimwade p.567)

Post by MCB »

Charles Samuel Morris Kay, the son of John Kay deceased of Crown Court, Soho, was apprenticed to Thomas Phipps (Grimwade p.623, 763) of the Goldsmiths Company in 1793 and free in 1801.
He married Mary Conen at St Bride’s, Fleet Street in 1800; both were from that parish.
Their daughter Mary Anne was christened at St Sepulchre, Holborn in 1802.
The christening record in 1813 of their daughter Sarah at St Giles, Cripplegate shows her father as a silversmith from Ironmonger Row, St Luke’s parish.
George, the son of George Harrison deceased confectioner of Lambeth, signed indentures in July 1809 to be his apprentice at Monkwell Street. For unknown reasons Harrison was turned over to Isaac Russell of the Goldsmiths Company at Bartholomew Square in May 1816 and made free in 1817. The reason for the turnover may have been his original master ceasing to trade.
Sons Charles, christened at St Mary Aldermanbury in 1805, and William, christened at the same church in 1815, applied for freedom by patrimony in the Goldsmiths Company in 1829 and 1855 respectively.
