He married Helena Glanville at Lincoln’s Inn Chapel in 1736.
Also in 1736 he paid Duty for the apprentice indentures of Thomas Mallison from Ludgate and John Kentish of Hitchin.
Richard Glanville (Grimwade p.523-4, 749) signed indentures in 1743 to be his apprentice.
He is listed in trade directories as a toyman at Birchill Lane, Cornhill from 1740-45 and in the same capacity at Angel Court, Throgmorton Street until 1760. Directories also show him as a merchant at that address from 1749-1767 and as a goldsmith and jeweller there from 1763-1781.
No other evidence has been found for him or of a son of the same name which Grimwade questioned in view of the longevity of trade.

Re: DEVEER, Frederick (Grimwade p.491, 745)
Records show that Federick de Veer silversmith age twenty-eight of St Leonard Parish, Shoreditch was bound to Helena Glanville on 6 November 1731.
Re: DEVEER, Frederick (Grimwade p.491, 745)
Do we have any source for the binding of Deveer to Helena Glanville please ? And the Company involved ?
If bound as apprentice, twenty eight seems a very unusual age !
Grimwade gives Deveer (p745) as being free of the Glovers by redemption 14 March 732 which ties nicely with this date. It could be that Helena Granville was the widow of Samuel Granville - and the apprenticeship of Richard Granville, her son to Deveer in September 1743 at a nominal one penny premium was because Richard was his stepson .
I think we all need to know more of the politics of Company freedoms - it seems not as simple as the Service (Apprenticeship ), Redemption (Purchase) or Patrimony ( Birth) options appear to be.
I cuurently have problems with John Andrews who seems to have been born around 1722, apprenticed in 1740, and married in early 1743(NS) ! Unless Grimwade misread the apprenticeship date or we hve two Leicestershire John Andrews the ages are all wrong !

Re: DEVEER, Frederick (Grimwade p.491, 745)
Sorry the word was bond in one of the records and bound in another. I should have used bond or mentioned matrimony. And the records do state that Helena was a widow.
A small matter no doubt, but the image of the original document that I have access to gives the year 1731 for his freedom of the city by redemption in the company of glovers.

Ah that solves the (imaginary ) problem
But it certainly suggests that Helena was the widow of Samuel Granville. Another link
As for the rest of my post
"Fetch a cloth , Granville "
Apologies to all, including Ronnie Barker.

Re: DEVEER, Frederick (Grimwade p.491, 745)
The discrepancy of the freedom dates is probably the old problem of the January - March being regarded as belonging to the previous year in this era. Technically we should call his freedom date 14 March 1731/32 , or if you are old-fashioned like me , 14 March 1732(NS)

21 February 1780 Frederick De Veer of Angel Court Throgmorton Street in the Parish of Saint Bartholomew will proved at London. Frederick De Veer's will mentions Glanville children by his late wife and no Deveer male children. The will was signed 17 February 1780 and gave indication that the business was still in operation at that time. Reference: TNA PROB 11/1062/123
