CAPON, William (Grimwade p.458)

Post by MCB »

The christening record in 1814 at St James, Piccadilly of William Pitt, the son of William and Mary Capon, shows their address as New Bond Street and his father as a hatter.
His mark registered at Goldsmiths Hall from New Bond Street in 1820 probably related to silver decoration for hats and perhaps such items as stock pins.
He was recorded at that address as a hatter aged 60 years in 1841.
William Capon was assessed to Land Tax on the property from 1798 to 1842 after which new tenants were assessed. He had presumably retired or died.
