WARWICK, James (Grimwade p.370)

Post by MCB »

Goldworkers List (Section VII).

He was born in Middlesex around 1786.
His marriage to Maria Elizabeth Abbott took place at St Mary, Newington in 1808; he was shown from Christ Church parish, Southwark.
Christenings of two of their children were recorded at St James, Clerkenwell in 1811 without their address.
Two daughters were christened at St John, Clerkenwell in 1814. Their address was St James Walk and their father a jeweller.
In 1819 he entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall as a gold worker from Newcastle Place.
The christenings records of six more of their children at St James, Clerkenwell on the same day in 1822 show their address as Newcastle Street, possibly an error for Newcastle Place as two further christenings at the same church in 1823 and 1826 record the latter address. Their father remained a jeweller.
The 1841 UK Census record for the family has not been found
He may have been the James Warwick recorded at Gray’s Inn Lane, St Pancras on the 1851 UK Census, head clerk at Hunt and Roskill’s factory.
The death of this James Warwick was recorded in the St Pancras register of 1859.
