Goldworkers List (Section VII).

He was christened at Fitzroy Chapel, St Pancras in 1797, the son of John Edington (Grimwade p.500) of Hartford Place and his wife Jane.
He signed indentures in 1811 to be the apprentice of Stephen Gaubert (Grimwade p.378) of the Goldsmiths Company.
He married Jane Ann Harvey at St James, Piccadilly in 1821; both were from that parish but originally Jane came from Liverpool.
Their daughters Maria Jane and Mary Anne were christened at St Pancras Old Church in 1822. Their address was Clarendon Street and their father a jeweller.
He entered marks at Goldsmiths Hall in 1820, 1821 and 1837 as a goldworker from 10 Portland Street, Soho. This had also been his father’s business address.
Indentures were signed in 1836 by Frederick, the son of James Denman, a professor of music from Tavistock Square, to be his apprentice as a jeweller.
The 1851 UK Census for 38 Camden Road Villas, Kentish Town recorded him as a retired goldsmith.
He lived at 10 Linden Villas, Islington in 1861 and at Hendon Hall, Hendon from 1871-1881.
His burial in 1882 aged 85 years, late of Hendon Hall, was recorded at St Mary, Hendon.
His Will was proved for probate in the same year at the Principal Registry. The value of his estate was £59973.
