He was christened the son of John and Ann Edington at St Marylebone in 1773.
He was apprenticed in 1788 to Thomas Hitchman (Grimwade p.381), a goldsmith of St James, Westminster.
The christening of John James (Grimwade p.365, 372) was recorded at Fitzroy Chapel, St Pancras in 1797 and of Thomas Alfred at St Marylebone in 1800, both the sons of John and Jane Edington of Hartford Place.
He entered marks at Goldsmiths Hall from 1799-1806 as a small worker from 10 Portland Street, Soho. This was also Thomas Hitchman’s business address.
In addition to the apprenticeship of his son John James mentioned by Grimwade the other son Thomas Alfred signed indentures in 1814 to be the apprentice of William Pitts (Grimwade p.626).
His burial in 1835 aged 62 years, late of Portland Street, Poland Street, was recorded at St Martin in the Fields.
