FARTHING, William (Grimwade p.384)

Goldworkers List (Section VII).

He was free by redemption in the Needlemakers Company in 1795. The application is noted to show he was a pocket book maker.
Eleanor, the daughter of William and Jane Farthing, was christened at St Michael, Cornhill in 1797 and was buried at the same church in 1798. Her last address had been St Vedast parish, Foster Lane.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1803 as a gold worker from Cornhill.
Their son John was born in 1805 and christened at St Vedast in 1807.
John’s application for freedom by redemption in the Needlemakers Company in 1841 shows he was born in Cornhill.
William Farthing’s burial aged 73 years in 1834, late of Cornhill, was recorded at St Michael’s.
