WILKINSON, James (Grimwade p.370)

Goldworkers List (Section VII).

He was christened in 1775 at St Mary the Virgin, Twickenham, the son of James and Jane.
As a widower he married the widow Sarah Foster at St Mary le Strand in 1812; both were from St Andrew, Holborn parish.
Three of their children were christened at St Andrew, Holborn between 1813 and 1817. Their address was Castle Street and their father a jeweller.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1821 as a gold worker from 10 Castle Street.
He was recorded at the same address and in the same trade on the 1841 UK Census.
The burial of his wife Sarah aged 72 years, late of Castle Street, was recorded at St Andrew’s in 1845.
In 1851 he was recorded as retired and living in High street, Tottenham.
His death in 1854 was registered in Edmonton, Middlesex

Recorded as a Jeweller and Silversmith of 18, Castle Street, Holborn.

James Wikinson's later premises at 10, Castle Street, were in 1817 occupied by Matthews & Randell, Solicitors.
